Mosquito rage in capital, people investing 1.5 crore every month
pre-monsoon showers in different parts of Chhattisgarh provided
favourable environment for the outbreak of mosquito menace once again
this year. The condition has also brought boom in the anti-mosquito
chemical market.
According to an estimate Raipur city spent approximately about `1.50
crore every month for various means of mosquito repellent. As per the
census report 2011 Raipur city has registered about 12 lakh population
of its about 5 lakh families. A major trader engaged in mosquito
repellent business said that, assuming If every family purchase a pack
of Mosquito coil, liquid and spray it would costs about `300 which makes
a total of `1.50 every month.
The Municiple Corporation Raipur has enacted a plan to repel mosquito
by fogging from in and around capital. Corporation is also investing `5
Lakhs every Month in fogging but it doesn’t give any respite.
Talking to The Pioneer Municiple Corporation Medical officer Shiv
Sharma said, Stagnant water is the main cause and enable to make a
breeding ground to increase Mosquito rage. He said, rage in City also
increases because of Water retained in air cooler’s tank. Water of
cooler should be changed regularly in summer season to prevent further
mosquito breeding.
Where Mayor Kiran Moyee Nayak said to The Pioneer that, in Raipur city
underground drainage system is only the solution to stop breeding of
Mosquito. He said, Central Government has sanction `300 crore to
construct drainage system in Raipur city and To built that, Construction
work will start shortly.
