Mother Dairy may adopt 45 city gardens
AHMEDABAD: Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is planning to sign PPP contracts for upgradation, development and maintenance of around 45 gardens with Mother Dairy. The move comes after the success of the initial 55 gardens that were handed over to Amul. A proposal has already been sent to the dairy which has showed interest in maintaining these gardens.
The new PPP terms are different from the earlier contract AMC has with the Amul. The new terms, include upgradation and development of gardens apart from the maintenance activities. “Under the new contract, Mother Dairy can decide on the landscaping design and plants to be planted in the gardens, for which AMC would extend all the support. Only maintenance contracts will not be enticing enough for any agency willing to adopt these gardens. Also Mother Dairy will be allowed to erect its booth in only 33 gardens,” said a senior AMC official. Once the deal is finalized, AMC would have 100 gardens under PPP model for maintenance purposes out of a total of 189 gardens.
