‘Multi-play’ equipment to dot city parks soon: MC
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Manjit Singh Chohan and attended by other members of the committee and officers concerned.
The committee has decided that the civic body would start awarding prizes for the best maintenance of parks by the Resident Welfare Associations. This would encourage the associations to beautify the parks and increase their involvement in beautification of the city.
Councillor Pardeep Chhabra suggested that stress should be laid on maintaining sanitation in greenbelts and parks and security should be increased. “Prior permission should be sought for installing tents for functions in parks. It is very important that parks and green belts be kept clean. Modern dustbins would be provided,” he said. The committee also accorded the approval to print a booklet on the developmental works done by Horticulture wing of the MC. The committee also approved providing and fixing iron railing, modification of existing railing and providing and fixing hut with sitting facility in park in Sector 28-B. Park near Radio Station Colony on V-5 road Sector 48 would be developed at a cost of Rs 5.06 lakh. The committee also decided to develop 7 parks in rehabilitation colony in Sector 25. For this, Rs 11.70 lakh has been approved.
