Municipal Commissioner transferred
Commissioner of Ramanathapuram Municipality P.M.N.Mujbeer Rahuman has been transferred to Tenkasi Municipality.
The
transfer comes close on the heels of a section of AIADMK councillors
demanding his transfer over the controversy surrounding the awarding of
Rs.2.39-crore contract to undertake road works under the Tamil Nadu
Urban Road Infrastructure Project (TURIP).
After the
AIADMK and DMK councillors boycotted the council meeting on Tuesday and
demanded a resolution against him, Mr Rahuman went on leave and sought
transfer to either Tenkasi or Aruppukottai, official sources said.
The
Commissioner of Municipal Administration is understood to have conceded
to the official’s request and transferred him to Tenkasi. Mr Rahuman is
likely to hand over the charge to Municipality Engineer A.Mathivanan on
Saturday and join duty at Tenkasi on Monday.
