Municipality to launch scheme to create jobs

Kanhangad: The Kanhangad municipality has chalked out a livelihood employment development project involving the local Kudumbasree units to address the unemployment rate.
One of the 15 micro projects planned is the Nature Fresh Milk project whereby the municipal corporation will help 45 interested households to buy a pair of cows and arrange to supply fresh milk to households an hour after the cows are milked, municipal chairman N.A. Khalid told a press conference here on Wednesday.
The fresh milk, priced at Rs.28 a litre, will be delivered at the doorstep in glass bottles, thus keeping plastic products at bay in milk production and distribution, he said.
The project will be formally launched here on Friday by Sharada Muralidharan, Executive Director, Kudumbasree State Mission. The subsidy for the project will be disbursed by District Collector Anand Singh, Mr. Khalid said.
The Nature Fresh Milk project was conceived after assessing the success of similar programmes in a few grama panchayats in the State, he said.
Other projects involving the 152 Kudumbasree units include setting up of paper bag and flower units, he said.
