Students from nine Corporation schools received musical
instruments like drums, flute, and trumpet among other things here on
Wednesday.
Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa, who
distributed them, said the State government was keen on improving the
skills of the students not only in their academic curricula, but also in
other co-curricular activities like music. The children should utilise
the opportunities and equip themselves as all-rounders.
Commissioner
R. Nanthagopal said the Corporation schools in Madurai stood on top
over others in the State in the public examinations. Like in the past,
the students should shine well in the coming years as well. The
Corporation administration would provide all necessary infrastructure,
he said, and appealed to the students to utilise it fully.
The
Corporation provided musical instruments worth Rs.3.71 lakh to students
on Wednesday. Now, it was up to students to make the best use of the
opportunity, Dr. Nanthagopal said, and added that students of other
Corporation schools would be given musical instruments shortly.
Students
