Nagpur Municipal Corporation demotes education officer to headmaster!
(NMC) is taking the molestation case related to its Sanjay Nagar School
very seriously. After suspending the teacher and headmaster, municipal
commissioner Shyam Wardhane has taken action against education officer (high school) Ashok Talatulle.
Following recommendations from additional municipal commissioner Hemant
Kumar Pawar and deputy municipal commissioner Rizwan Siddiqui, the
civic chief demoted Talatulle to headmaster. He has been appointed in
the Sanjay Nagar School itself.
Confirming the action, Pawar
said Talatulle failed to give justice to his responsibilities and also
initiate measures to prevent from such incidents. “Three cases of
molestation of students came to fore in a span of six months. Besides,
there are no two posts of education officers in the NMC’s bylaws. Still,
two persons have been appointed as education officers, one for primary
school and other for high school,” he said.
Pawar added that
new education officer has been finalized and also appointed. “Mangala
Chavan has been promoted as assistant education officer and given
officiating charge as education officer,” he said.
Headmaster
of Sanjay Nagar school Waman Moon was suspended a couple of days ago.
This is the school where a teacher had molested nine girls last month.
The accused teacher Pradip Gupta was suspended immediately after the
case came to fore. Besides, assistant education officer Malti Sharma and school inspector Meena Gupta have also got warnings in the case.
