The councillors during the monthly house meeting on Tuesday alleged that in many areas of the city, sewerage water and drinking water is getting mixed and the same is being supplied to the residents.
Former mayor and municipal councillor Harjinder Kaur said, “The paver
blocks are being removed, concrete areas are being broken to find out
leakages. Had the civic body mapped pipelines, the leakages would have
been properly managed.”

During
discussion, municipal commissioner also highlighted that the situation
has gone worse, as residents have encroached upon the land and made
construction over the land where underground water and sewerage
pipelines pass. He sought political consensus over the issue and said,
“We are going to serve notices and these constructions need to go to
solve the problem of leakages.”
