Taking charge here on Tuesday as the new Greater Hyderabad Municipal
Corporation (GHMC) commissioner, Somesh Kumar, said he will concentrate
on the grievances of citizens in the city, and strengthen the GHMC call
centres.
He said that he would continue and also strengthen all
the existing works commissioned by his predecessor MT Krishna Babu. The
new civic chief said he would go into the nitty-gritty about the
functions of the GHMC for better understanding of the complete structure
of GHMC activities and its functions.
Speaking to Express, Somesh
Kumar, a 1989 batch IAS officer, said he would make all efforts to
prepare future plans for comprehensive development of Greater Hyderabad.
‘’It
is one of the biggest corporations in the country and all steps would
be taken to keep the city’s reputation high by implementing various
developmental projects and schemes by taking the confidence of all,’’ he
said.
He said he would strive to have good relations with the
elected body and work together for better development of the city. Kumar
also stated that he would concentrate on supporting the youth through
the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu scheme.
According to sources, the state
government wanted to have a senior official who hails from outside the
state keeping in view the ongoing agitations in the wake of bifurcation
of the state.
