New NDMC set-up announced
Five nominees of Delhi Government, Union Urban Development Ministry and MHA
The composition of the new set-up – changed after the delimitation
exercise – for the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) was announced on
Tuesday.
Parimal Rai continues to be the Chairperson while Tajdar
Babbar will continue as the Vice-Chairperson. Three MLAs from the NDMC
area – Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Ashok Ahuja and Karan Singh
Tanwar – would be the members of the new council.
The notification was expected as the five-year term of the current council expires on Tuesday.
In the new council structure, apart from the
chairperson, there are two nominees of the Delhi Government, two of the
Union Urban Development Ministry and one from the Ministry of Home
Affairs.
These include Dharmendra and Rita Kumar on behalf of
Delhi Government while M.M. Kutty would be a representative of the Urban
Development Ministry along with S.K. Singh from Land and Development
Office. Gopal Reddy would represent the Ministry of Home Affairs.
