New reward scheme for civic body staff
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has approved a
scheme that links revenue collection with financial reward to encourage
the employees of its property tax department. According to civic body
officials, the objective of the scheme is to not only increase
motivational levels among the employees by establishing a clear link
between pay and performance but to allow them to share the success of
the civic body’s revenue growth.
“The reward scheme
will be on team basis and each zone and headquarter will be considered
one single unit for the purpose of this scheme. Thus if the zone and HQ
achieve the target fixed for the year 2012-13, then all the employees of
the property tax department of various categories at the zones and
headquarters will be eligible under this scheme,” states a letter issued
by the SDMC Office of the Assessor and Collector.
The financial reward is equivalent to one month’s salary of the employee concerned.
Yet
the reward will be granted only after the property tax has been
credited to the civic body’s property tax account, said the letter.
Employees with whose efforts the collection of revenue increases by
Rs.50 lakh in a year will also be entitled to a merit certificate in
addition to the reward.
