New uniforms to sanitary workers
New uniforms worth Rs.16 lakhs were distributed to the
corporation sanitary workers on the eve of Deepavali festival on
Thursday. A. Jaya, Mayor, presided over the programme and gave away the
new uniforms to 1,646 sanitary workers – men 891 and women 755 –
employed in all the 65 wards of the Corporation. V. P. Thandapani,
Corporation Commissioner, Asick Meera, Deputy Mayor, and their officials
were present.
