Politicians can no longer escape by claiming that illegal hoardings with their images have been put up by someone else.
The BBMP now plans to file cases with the police against politicians featured in such hoardings.
In
a press release issued here, BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana stated
that the high court has directed BBMP to rid the city of illegal
flexes, banners, buntings and posters. It had also directed the Palike
to book cases at the police station against politicians whose photograph
are seen on illegal hoardings.
“As the high court has directed
us to book cases against politicians, we shall lodge complaints against
them,” the Commissioner warned.
Further, the Commissioner pointed
out that BBMP will also impose a penalty. “Palike officials shall lodge a
complaint at the nearest police station where illegal hoardings are
seen and collect penalty,” the Commissioner said.
Lakshminarayana
also said that as per the high court directions, BBMP shall constitute a
separate vigilance team which will remove those illegal hoardings and
flexes.
