No place to walk
Garbage thrown on the Banaswadi Main Road makes life extremely difficult for youngsters and senior citizens. The same problem had recently caused the death of a young student who tried to avoid the pile of garbage on the road and was sadly rammed by a bus. They are often seen walking almost in the middle of the road trying not to step onfilth, thereby putting their own lives at risk as there is little space for vehicles too. Cattle and dogs who are often feasting on the garbage cause a menace to pedestrians. Moreover, there is no pavement on one side of the road. Onlookers can only manage to sneak a smile at these issues. However, they strongly feel that the problem is grave and the authorities were never seen to take any responsibility. “We have asked people to avoid walking on the other side of the road,” Rajshekar said and added that this would at least keep people out of danger. He said that the shop keepers had informed the councillor of the area and the engineers about this issue but nothing has happened so far.
And as usual, the pleas of residents and pedestrians have fallen on deaf ears of the civic agencies.
