‘No property tax hike in next 2 yrs’
February 2nd, 2011
Feb. 1: The chairman of the BBMP Taxation and Finance
Committee, Mr P.N. Sadashiva, assured that property tax will not be
hiked for the next two years. He made this declaration at the council
meet on Tuesday while replying to a query raised by one Doddanna from
Attiguppe ward about the steep hike in the property tax. Mr Sadashiva
assured that a resolution will be sent to the government to reset the
block period from three years to five years by making an amendment to
the KMC Act 1976.
The Mayor, Mr S.K. Nataraj, said that the BBMP Town
Planning Committee along with a few officials have been authorised to
inspect the Garuda Mall, which has been built on the PPP module on BBMP
property. The committee will then submit a report for further action.
Irrespective of party affiliation, corporators condemned
the attitude of the Managing Director of the Garuda Mall, Mr Uday
Garudachar’s abusive attitude towards the people’s representative.
Mr Nataraj gave the green signal for House Committee to
review the Chief Auditor’s report, which unearthed the bogus work code
issued for works worth Rs 3,500 crore for 2008 and 2009. Raising serious
concerns over public health, the Yediyur corporator, Mr N.R. Ramesh,
revealed that there are over 400 unauthorised water processing units
operating without an ISI seal.
