Not governance, rains to be blamed for damage
In the line of fire, Gurgaon divisional commissioner T K Sharma spoke to TOI on the crumbling infrastructure in the city
Why are the roads in Gurgaon in such bad shape?
Incessant rain has caused a lot of damage. Inadequate stormwater drains along roads to dispose of rainwater, has compounded the problem. The stormwater drains and sewerage lines are also blocked and badly connected.
Can the residents expect immediate relief?
Its impossible to recarpet damaged roads till the rains continue. But, the necessary repairs should be carried out. I will convene a meeting of all agencies concerned.
Do you think the government is to blame?
Governance is not a problem. We need to prioritise the tasks. Each agency is aware of its responsibility. The expectations of people will be met.
