As many as 200 Amma canteens in the city, which are aimed at feeding
the poor at affordable prices, will now come under surveillance with the
installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.
The
installation of these cameras was approved by the Council at a revised
estimate of Rs 1.33 crore. Earlier, the Council had given its nod to set
up the CCTV cameras at Amma canteens at a cost of Rs 1.07 crore during
July.
However, the ELCOT submitted a revised estimate of Rs 1.33
crore that included procuring and fitting cost in October. The same has
now been approved by the Council.
