Officials remove encroachments

Amid protests by fisher folk and BJP workers, officials
of the Revenue Department and the GHMC on Thursday removed encroachments
at the Chinnama Cheruvu at Ramanthapur on Thursday. The protestors
later partially rebuilt the structure once the officials exited the
scene. Officials said the management of the Ganga Bhavani Temple, which
is situated in the Full Tank Level area of the lake, had taken up
expansion activities despite official orders against it.

The
management had constructed a compound wall on the encroached portion of
the lake and was going ahead with the expansion work.
