Opp smells rat in MCD parking tendersStaff Reporter | New Delhi
Smelling rat in the recently floated parking tenders for various sites in the city, Leader of Opposition in the MCD Jai Kishan Sharma on Thursday urged Delhi Lt-Governor Tejender Khanna to call off the entire proceedings at once. He has also written a letter to him alleging that related documents of several bidders have been removed to benefit some who have benefaction of MCD officials. In the letter, he said several bidders have complained that their tender related documents which they had deposited were removed by the officials with intention award the contracts to their loved ones.
“I received many complaints about Rani Bagh Market parking that the area awarded for parking shown in contract is less than the area being actually used for parking by the contractor. The officials concerned are not taking any action even after receiving complaints from the other contractors because they are in connivance with them,” said the Congress leader.
Sharma asked Municipal Commissioner to make the procedure of allotment of parkings more transparent hence e-tendering be introduced for the purpose.
He further stated he has also written to Municipal Commissioner regarding the same on November 22 demanding action but so far he has not been apprised of any action taken in this regard.
“The issue of allotting parking contracts and recovering monthly license fee at lower rates besides irregularities are being raised in the meetings of the Standing Committee since last few meetings. Yet the officers are not paying any heed to them,” said he.
