Palike officials to address people’s complaints
BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah has asked them to be responsible for all complaints received from people and take appropriate measures to address them.
The commissioner held a meeting with the engineers after checking the progress report of works underway.
He said all projects have received approvals from the standing committees and officials have to start work by monthend. He said the Palike has already started to remove encroachments from footpaths or materials impeding free flow of pedestrian movement.
He said all potholes should be filled up by December 16. Added to this, there were more than 30 toilets in the zone but many were not operational.
He said there were enough complaints about the issue and said they would consider handing over maintenance of the same to private players.
He said all zones have been told to ensure all public buildings, including apartments, commercial complexes, hospitals, schools and others to ensure they follow waste segregation.
He said compost created by waste could be used at the BBMP parks in the city.

He also observed that the East Zone had 2.30 lakh properties and nearly 72 per cent of physical verification survey was completed. He said further survey would ensure that another eight per cent of the properties are soon added to the tax net which would add `15 crore or more to the Palike’s kitty.
He said last year, the zone collected `220 crore and this year, their collection has reached `240 crore.
It also came to light that many property owners in the Diamond District have not paid their dues to the Palike and directed officials to take action against such owners.
