Panchkula: With the underground parking lot at the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) in Sector 6 lying unused, hundreds of visitors to the HUDA office have to park their vehicles on road leading to traffic chaos. For visitors, optimal use of the available space inside the HUDA office should be the priority, for HUDA the underground parking is aptly being used as small office such as computer training centre and store room.
“Parking always is a cause of concern for the visitors to the HUDA office. It is all the more worse during the days when there is some auction or draw of lots. Though some part on the pavement outside the office was converted into a parking lot, it is too small to cope up with the kind of rush that is witnessed every day in the office,” said Suraj Prakash, a resident of Sector 7 and a regular visitor to the HUDA office.
It is sad that despite HUDA having an under ground parking lot, it is lying unused while the visitors suffer on that count, said another visitor
An HUDA official said, “We know that there is a paucity of space leading to parking problem at the HUDA office, but we are helpless. Some years back, the underground parking lot was opened for visitors but people refused to park their vehicles leading to chaos inside the HUDA office. Then it was decided that while the vehicles of HUDA officials would be allowed inside the HUDA building. Also space for parking outside the office was created for the visitors.”.
