PCMC officials told to attend GB meetings
PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has decided to take legal action against civic officials who fail to attend the general body meetings.
The absence of officials during the meetings had been leading to chaos as there would be no one to reply to the questions being raised by coporators. PCMC mayor Yogesh Behl has now asked civic officials to be present in the House during the general body meetings.
Behl has asked municipal commissioner Ashish Sharma to ensure that officials are present in the House for the meetings and take action against those who remain absent.
Additional commissioner Prakash Kadam on Saturday assured corporators during the general body meeting, saying, “All civic officials will be present for the general body meetings and legal action will be taken against those remaining absent.”
Earlier, Congress corporator Amar Mulchandani pointed out that very few civic officials attend the meetings. “The civic administration is not acting on the instructions given during the meetings and civic officials do not come for the meetings on time. Some officials do not even come to the House even if they are present in the office,” he said.
Meanwhile, the proposal to pay Rs 1.93 crore to the Pune Metropolitan Planning Committee for its daily expenses and for setting up of an office has been kept pending. Another proposal of cancelling the 60 feet wide road in Chikhli, too, was kept pending.
