Pending projects: MC may issue show cause notices
Ludhiana MC has finally decided to issue show cause notices to the
contractors who are delaying the work. The move comes after city
resident Kuldeep Singh Khaira submitted a complaint on September 3 to MC
additional commissioner Sumit Jarangal.
In his complaint, Khaira demanded blacklisting of M/S Captain
Enterprise which since 2011 has been unable to complete five major
projects and that too which had time limit of not more than 9 months.
“Even after numerous complaints to MC no action has been taken
against the contractors. In two-and-half years the contractors have
hardly complete 40 per cent of the work. Time limit of 6 to 9 months has
also ended way back,” he said. Sources from MC Zone A headquarters
confirmed that Jarangal has finally started issuing show cause notices
to faulty contractors including M/S Captain Enterprise and soon the list
of blacklisted contractors will be issued. Despite repeated attempts,
Jarangal did not respond to the phone calls.
Projects worth crores pending since 2 years<\b>
The projects pending with M/S Captain Enterprise include
installing interlocking tiles 60 mm hydraulically pressed on side berms
of Model Town worth Rs 21 lakh. Kerbs and interlocking tiles on both
side of road in Vishal Nagar, Part-A worth Rs 22 lakh. Reconditioning of
streets by laying CC in Ward 29 worth Rs 41 lakh. Laying PCC flooring
in Mohalla Parbhat Nagar worth Rs 78 lakh and laying 80 mm thick
interlocking tiles of plastic mould and construction of footpath from
Gill road to campa cola chowk worth Rs 2.4 crore.
