Plastics unit raided
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) health
team, on Thursday, raided a plastics manufacturing unit and seized more
than 100 tonnes of plastic that was less than 40 microns in thickness.
According
to a press release here, the team led by BBMP’s Chief Health Officer
raided Malang Polimers on Andrahalli Main Road in Peenya Industrial Area
that comes under Dasarahalli zone. The team imposed a fine of Rs. 25
lakh on the manufacturer, besides issuing a notice to seal the unit and
direct the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company to disconnect the power
supply immediately.

Commissioner Siddaiah, in a release, has warned plastic units against
manufacturing plastic that is less than 40 microns in thickness.
In this context, manufacturing has also been banned, the release added.
