PMC calls meeting of MLAs and MPs ahead of sessions
PUNE: Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar has asked the Pune mayor and municipal commissioner to call regular meetings of city MLAs and MPs to inform them about the city’s issues that are pending with the state and Central government.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, leader of the house, Nilesh Naikam, said, “Ajit Pawar has asked the PMC to convene meetings of city MLAs and MPs, especially before state and Parliament sessions so that city representatives can raise the city’s issues in the sessions.”
Nikam added that accordingly the first such meeting of city MLAs and MPs was convened on Monday and the civic administration updated them about the various issued that are pending with the state government. “The MLAs have assured that they will raise these issues on the Nagpur session of the assembly. MP Shivajirao Adhalrao, who was present for the meeting, said that all the issues pertaining with the defence land because of which various projects are stuck will be raised in the Parliament,” said Nikam.
Legislative members also assured to pursue the metro rail project at the state government level so that it will be forwarded to the Central government.
However, standing committee members on Tuesday expressed their unhappiness over the meeting saying that all standing committee members should have been invited for the same.
“Standing committee members were not invited for the meeting. Actually, all the important issues in the city are discussed in the standing committee and interaction between MLAs and standing committee member could have been fruitful,” said committee member Ujwal Keskar.
However, Nikam said standing committee chairman Arvind Shidne was invited for the meeting and there was no need to invite all members.
