PMC demolishes 49 billboards, 56 flex boards
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) as part of its ongoing drive
against illegal hoardings, has demolished 49 billboards and 56 flex
boards that failed to renew licences to implement hoardings as per the
new policy.
As per the Bombay High court directive, PMC had framed a policy
to check the haphazard hoardings. The policy was approved by the state
government but its implementation was delayed as the hoarding owners
challenged the new policy.
The civic body was losing huge revenue due to the illegal hoardings and had to implement the new policy.
As per the new policy, it urged the hoarding owners to renew the
licences and make changes in hoardings accordingly.The civic body had
scrutinised the hoardings whose owners had sought licence renewal.
