PMC holds talks with Cantonment officials over revenue sharing
The PMC administration had discussions with the officials of Pune
Cantonment Board and Khadki Cantonment Board over revenue sharing of
LBT. “The PMC was sharing revenue of octroi with the cantonment boards
in the ratio of population.
However, implementation of LBT in the cantonment area is becoming
a problem due to differences in the rule governing the local bodies,”
said municipal commissioner Mahesh Pathak.
The cantonment board has no system or dedicated staff to
implement LBT, he said, adding the revenue for cantonment board would be
from PMC.
“The PMC has given option to cantonment board to either keep
revenue sharing in the ratio of population in the respective areas of
local civic bodies or by considering the actual business in the
cantonment area,” he said, adding this is being done to ensure that the
traders don’t have to pay LBT twice by paying PMC as the goods would
pass through its jurisdiction and cantonment board where the goods would
be sold.
