PMC pulls down 1,331 illegal banners, hoardings
Continuing with the drive against illegal hoardings in the city, the
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Friday pulled down 1,331 placards,
including 55 hoardings, as against 6,573 on Thursday.
“We have submitted an action taken report to Bombay High Court on
Thursday. The action on illegal placards across the city will
continue,” said Ramesh Shelar, deputy municipal commissioner.
He said the hoardings will only be allowed if they comply with
the norms stipulated in the draft hoarding policy pending with the state
government and after payment of pending dues. “We will not allow any
hoardings to come up if they violate the norms,” said Shelar.
The ward offices and the local police have been directed to keep a check on illegal hoardings.
