PMC to speed up process to approve DP plan for city
WITH the state government sending a reminder on publishing the draft
development (DP) plan for the city by April next year, the Pune
Municipal Corporation (PMC) has speeded up the process of giving nod to
the draft in city improvement committee and is likely to table it in the
special general body meeting.
“We would soon approve the draft development plan for the city
and table in general body,” said Chetan Tupe, chairperson of city
improvement committee.
Many elected representatives want to propose changes in the
draft, he said adding, “The committee would take a decision on the
proposed changes while finalising the draft.”
Meanwhile, the state government had informed the PMC that it was
suppose to publish the draft DP by December 2009. The PMC got an
extension for it and made its intention on April 5, 2011. As per the
MRTP Act, the local civic body has to publish the DP within two years
from the declaration of its intention and accordingly the PMC should do
it by April 4, 2013.
“If the PMC fails to publish DP by 2013 then the state government
would appoint deputy director town planning for doing the
responsibility of preparing DP,” it said.
