Officers transferred
In a bid to bring in effective delivery of service, Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Zagade on Monday carried out internal transfer of deputy municipal commissioners and changed their responsibilities. Accordingly, KC Karkar will have additional charge of women and child development scheme, women empowerment, backward class welfare programme, along with the general administration department. The responsibility of slum improvement and rehabilitation, civic quarters will be with Laxman Damse, while Pravin Ashtikar will handle election department along with fire department, disaster management and hawkers policy.
Dnyaneshwar Molak will have additional charge of printing press, telecommunication along with the responsibility of zonal commissioner. PMC Tax Assessment and Collection Officer Vilas Kanade will look after the urban community development department and various professional training centres of the civic body. Shivaji Daundkar will have the RTI cell, pension proposals, loan scheme along with labour welfare department while Vijay Dahibhate will take the responsibility of tender cell and electricity department
‘Public money wasted on non-productive work’
Sajag Nagrik Manch on Monday came down heavily on the civic administration accusing them of spending large amount of public money on renovation of their office cabins and seeking to increase the tax burden on citizens. “The civic administration spent Rs 9 lakh and Rs 6.66 lakh to renovate the office cabins of commissioner Mahesh Zagade and additional municipal commissioner Umakant Dangat,” said Vivek Velankar of Manch. The civic body is burdening the tax payers by seeking a hike in tax and on the other hand is spending the money on non-productive work, he said. The administration has spend around Rs 15 lakh in last couple of years on the official residence of the commissioner, Velankar said.
No water supply on Wed
There will be no water supply in the entire city on Wednesday as the PMC will undertake maintenance and repair work at the pumping stations — Parvati, Pune Cantonment, Warje, Vadgaon Budhruk and Holkar. The water supply will remain disrupted on Thursday and will be restored slowly in the day. The area covered under these pumping station will not have water on Wednesday.
