Price display boards to be installed in KMC markets
Corporation (KMC) has decided to install display boards in all markets
where price of essential commodities, including vegetables, would be
displayed.
The display boards will help the consumers to know the
exact price of commodities and thus save them from getting deceived by
dishonest traders. The price of various essential commodities, including
sugar, pulse wheat, edible oil and rice will be displayed on the
boards.
The decision to install the boards was taken today
at a meeting convened by the municipal commissioner Khalil Ahmed at the
KMC headquarters. Member, mayor-in-council (market) Tarak Singh, member,
mayor-in-council (food adulteration) Partha Pratim Hazari, joint
municipal commissioner and representatives of the Forum of Traders
Organisation attended the meeting.
Municipal commissioner Mr
Ahmed asked the representatives of wholesale traders not to earn more
than 20 per cent profit on their wholesale price. The wholesale traders
will have to submit a voucher to the retailers when they sell the
products. The civic body has asked the representatives of Poultry
Federation for setting up stalls in the KMC’s market by 18 June for
selling meats at subsidised rate.
The stalls will come up in 10
markets of the KMC where meat will be sold at Rs 150 per kilogram. The
stalls will come up at Kankurgachi, VIP market, Ultadanga, Lansdowne
market, Gurudas market, Ramlal Bazar, Jadavgarh, Park Circus, Santoshpur
Bazar, Purno Porno Bithika and SN Roy market in Behala.
