Pudukotttai municipality launches drive against plastic carry bags
The municipal authorities seized and destroyed plastic
bags and packaging material less than 40 microns at the end of a
day-long sudden inspection in various shops in the town on Friday. About
300 kg of substandard plastic material was destroyed. The municipality
purchased a special electronic micro instrument for ascertaining the
quality of the plastics, said municipal sources who conducted the
seizure.
The municipal authorities said the drive
would be launched for a few more days and appealed to members of the
public not to use the substandard carry bags.
