Pune Municipal Corporation employee booked for molesting 5-year-old
PUNE: A
48-year-old employee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been
booked for allegedly molesting a five-year-old girl at the PMC colony in
the city on Sunday afternoon. The suspect, who fled the colony along
with his wife, is yet to be traced, police said.
The suspect
has been booked under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman
with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and the
relevant section of the Protection of Children from the Sexual Offences
Act. The girl’s aunt has lodged the complaint.
Police said the
girl had come to her aunt’s place for Christmas vacations. “The incident
took place on Sunday morning, when the girl was in the toilet. The
suspect also went inside the toilet and molested her,” said an officer
from the Khadak police station. “When the suspect sensed that girl’s
aunt was coming, he ran away. Later, the girl narrated the entire
incident to her aunt, following which she approached the police
station,” he said.
The Khadak police have launched a massive search to trace the suspect.
