R Venugopal is Tripunithura municipal chairman

While C N Sundaran of the LDF received 22 votes,  Venugopalan got 25 votes of the UDF and one from an Independent.

For the post of vice-chairperson, Sasikala of the LDF and Thilothama Suresh from the UDF had contested. Thilothama won with 26 votes. After the swearing-in ceremony R Venugopal held a press conference, at which he promised the repair of the municipal road and eviction of the encroachers at the Statue Junction.

Venugopal said he would provide necessary documents for the 82 families residing in the Pointhara Colony. In Udayamperoor panchayat, Ajitha Salin of the LDF assumed  office as panchayat president
