KADAPA: Congress MLAs, ruling party leaders and functionaries of all frontal organisations took out a massive rally from Kadapa Municipal Corporation office to the Collectorate on Monday demanding withdrawal of the case booked against Kadapa Mayor P. Raveendranath Reddy.
SP criticised
Rajampet MLA A. Amarnath Reddy, Rayachoti MLA G. Srikanth Reddy and DCC president K. Suresh Babu, who led the protest, also sought action against Kadapa SP Tarun Joshi for booking a case against the Mayor at the behest of a senior Congress leader and Mydukur MLA D.L. Ravindra Reddy. They charged the TDP, CPI, CPI(M), BJP and the Praja Rajyam with levelling baseless allegations against the Mayor, unable to bear his popularity.
They warned of an intensive agitation if the case against the Mayor was not withdrawn. It was part of a high-level conspiracy to book false cases against former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s family members and relatives in a vindictive manner, they alleged.
Unable to bear the people’s support to Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s ‘Odarpu Yatra’, some Congress leaders, the TDP and a section of the media were carrying out a malicious campaign against Mr. Jagan and his relatives, they alleged.
TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu had favoured Nagarjuna Fertilizers during his nine-year rule, they alleged. The Balaji Fertilizers management ordered stoppage of lorries carrying fertilizer on realising that they proceeded without taking way bills, but cases were booked without knowing the fact, they alleged.
Deputy Mayor K. Nabi Rasool, PCC secretary T. Sivasankar, Kadapa Market Committee chairman Balamalla Reddy, city Congress president B. Ayyanna, municipal corporators and leaders of Mahila Congrerss, Youth Congress, Seva Dal, INTUC, SC, ST, BC and minority cells and party sympathisers participated in large number. The leaders presented a memorandum to in charge Joint Collector Krishnamohan Reddy.
