Rally taken out on World Toilet Day

TIRUCHI: A large number of volunteers and members of women’s self
help groups and associations for water, sanitation and hygiene took out
an awareness rally in the city on Friday as part of the World Toilet Day
observation.
The rally, organised by the Gramalaya, a city-based voluntary
organisation, Arghyam and Water.org, was intended to sensitise people to
toilet usage, faecal and waterborne diseases and ecological sanitation.
The rally, taken out around the Chinthamani area, was flagged off by
Mahesan Kasirajan, Collector, in the presence of Corporation
Commissioner T.T.Balsamy and other officials.S.Damodaran, country
director, Water.org, said eco-san toilets was the best option for people
living in both water-logging and drought prone areas.
