Ramagundam civic body upgraded to corporation
HYDERABAD: As part of its endeavour to create new municipalities and corporations in the State, the Government has issued orders upgrading the Ramagundam Municipality into Municipal Corporation.
The new corporation comes into existence with immediate effect. It might be recalled that the Government has plans to create about 60 new municipalities and three corporations in addition to 109 municipalities and 15 corporations.
Government took the decision on Ramagundam Municipality, on the recommendation of Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration under the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations (Fixation of Criteria for Specification of Larger Urban Areas) Rules, 1994 issued in GO Ms No 571 on 14 September, 2009.
The Municipal Council of Ramagundam also adopted a resolution favouring upgradation in November 2008.
