Ranchi Municipal Corporation asks defaulters to pay water tax by September 30
RANCHI: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation
has issued letters to government institutions and officials here who
have not paid water tax for the past several years. An amount of Rs 4.58
crore is to be recovered from 56 such defaulters by the RMC.
Institutions like RINPAS, Rajendra Institute of Medical Science, Central
Coalfields Ltd and RRDA are also in the list of defaulters among
others.
Chairperson of Water Board, Suresh Sahu
said, “The maximum revenue has to come from RIMS which has more than Rs
two crore as dues. We have sent letters to all the defaulters to clear
the dues for which September 30 is the deadline.”
Apart from RIMS, the other institutions which have defaulted with regard to payment water tax to RMC are the Birsa Agricultural University (Rs 67.19 lakh), Bacon factory (Rs 12.88 lakh), Jharkhand State Transport Board
(Rs 4. 26 lakh), CCL (Rs 13. 93 lakh), Insulator Factory (Rs 5.18
lakh), RRDA (Rs 2.32 lakh) etc. Other institutions have to pay less than
Rs. 2 lakh. The RMC chief said strict action would be taken against
those who do not clear dues on time. “We will start disconnecting the
water connection of those institutions that do not clear dues by
September 30. The RMC will start disconnecting the water connections
from October 15 of those who fail to clear their dues by September 30,”
he said.
