Report on building collapse to be submitted next week: MCD
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Under pressure from the opposition Congress for taking no
action against any official in the Lalita Park building collapse case
that claimed 70 lives, the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Municipal
Corporation of Delhi on Monday said it would be submitting an internal
vigilance probe report next week.
‘Complex issues’
Though the civic body had earlier set a deadline of submitting the
report within four days of the incident which occurred on November 15,
the time frame was later extended owing to the MCD Central Vigilance
Officer’s request citing various “complex issues” in the matter.
A meeting of the MCD House was also adjourned on Monday after the
opposition Congress created a ruckus over the delay in submitting the
vigilance report. Following this, the deliberative wing of the MCD has
now asked the Municipal Commissioner to fix a deadline for submitting
the probe report next week.
MCD Leader of House Subhash Arya said: “The MCD Vigilance Department
has once again sought more time to complete the work. I have asked the
Municipal Commissioner to fix the deadline for it next week.”
