Residents bicker over khata certificates
The residents of Sachidananada Nagar had approached the BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah a couple of months ago, armed with roses to get his attention on the matter. The residents had told him that they had not received khata certificates even though they lived there for many years. Siddaiah had assured them that he would look into it and give them an answer. The residents were later assured that they would get their certificates on Monday. But this was not to be as a rival association demanded that they get the khatas first.
As the drama unfolded, the Sachidananada Nagar Nyayapara Andolana headed by Shankar Prasad held a silent protest in the Palike office. BBMP officials and the police were unable to do anything and watched in silence. Added to this, the 120 residents of Sachidanada Nagar alleged that this was the handy work of the local MLA. They had asked the commissioner to look into the matter and this was followed by a Lokayukta directive as well. Siddaiah said he would ensure that the matter is resolved and that the residents get khata certificates.
