Resolution passed by Corporation
The construction of Goshree-Mamangalam road and rail overbridge at
Vathuruthy will be expedited, according to a resolution passed by the
Kochi Council.
The resolutions were moved by the Kochi Mayor Tony
Chammany during the concluding session of the annual budget discussion,
held on Tuesday.
The annual budget was passed by the council at its sitting.
The detailed project report for the Vathuruthy bridge was prepared by KITCO.
The council also resolved to take steps to restart the
construction of the corporation building after settling the disputes
between the civic body and the contractor who bagged the bid for
construction.
It was also decided to make the abattoir at Mattanchery
operational as per the guidelines of the Kerala State Pollution Control
Board. The corporation divisions will be allocated Rs.30 lakh each for
undertaking various development activities.
A Jana Sevana Kendra (a public utility centre where all
payments to the civic body can be made) was inaugurated at the Edapally
regional office of the Kochi Corporation. Mr. Chammany inaugurated the
Kendra.
T. J. Vinod, chairman of the Development Standing
Committee of the corporation, presided. Essy Joseph and Ratnamma Raju,
chairpersons of the Welfare and Tax appeal Standing Committees, and K.
J. Jacob, the LDF leader in the council, were among those who attended.
