Rs. 5.5 crore sanctioned to solve traffic problems
The State government sanctioned Rs. 5.5 crore for the
traffic regularisation in the city and the development of junctions in
the city. Announcing this here on Thursday, district Collector and
Special Officer of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) Neetu Prasad
asked the officials of the engineering wing of the KMC to work in close
coordination with the police to remove bottlenecks on the city roads.
Addressing
a review meeting with the municipal officialson the city development,
Ms. Neeu asked the Municipal Commissioner to invite tenders for taking
up the roads and junction development works. She said that the response
was good from the public.
She also wanted the
officials to focus on beautification of junctions and ensure that the
works must be done on a permanent basis. She said that junctions such as
Balaji Cheruvu, Bhanu Gudi, Sarpavaram, Zilla Parishad, P.R. Government
College and Indrapalem had to be beautified. Referring to the proposed
removal of ‘Gali Gopuram’ of Ramalayam on the Main Road, Ms. Neetu said
that a dialogue had been initiated with the members of the temple
committee and it was proposed that funds would be borne by the civic
body for the reconstruction of the same.
She asked
the officials to focus on early completion of the construction of
drainages at L.B. Nagar and Kondayyapalem and chalk out plans to improve
drinking water supply during the summer.
Municipal
Commissioner V. Ravi Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay
Bhaskar Reddy, Additional Commissioner Satyaveni and others were
present.
