Rs.19.17 crore road works planned

143 projects to be taken up under Special Roads Scheme 2010-11 |
TIRUVARUR: A total of 143 road works are going on in the four
Municipalities i.e Tiruvarur, Mannargudi, Thiruthuraipoondi and
Mannargudi in the district at a cost of Rs.19.17 crore under Special
Roads Scheme 2010-11, said M.Chandrasekaran, Collector on Tuesday. He
inspected these works at the four Municipalities. In Tiruvarur, 69 works
are going on at a cost of Rs.9 crore.
In Thiruthuraipoondi, 26 works are carried out at a cost of Rs.2.26 crore.
Burma colony
The Collector saw the works at sannidhi street and Burma colony at
Thiruthuraipoondi. At Koothanallur, 19 works are going on at a cost of
Rs.2.98 crore. At Mannargudi, 33 works are going on at a cost of Rs.4.93
crore.
The Collector saw the works on Kailasanatha Street, Mudalsethi street, Vinayaga street.
The Collector appealed to officials concerned to expedite the work.
Yashmin Parveen, Chairperson of Koothanallur Municipality, Municipal
Commissioners Mathivanan (Mannargudi), Shankaran (Thrithuraipoondi) and
Saravanan (Tiruvarur) were present during the inspection.
