Salem Corporation Commissioner takes charge
K.R. Selvaraj took charge as the new City Municipal Corporation Commissioner here on Thursday.
Mr.
Selvaraj had already served as commissioner in Erode, Vellore, Tiruchy
and Tirupur corporations before moving to Salem. He succeeds M. Ashokan,
who was transferred and posted as Commissioner of Tirupur Municipal
Corporation. After assuming office, he called on Mayor S. Soundappan and
Deputy Mayor M. Natesan. He held meeting with senior officials and
discussed the status of projects implemented and challenging issues.
With the waste treatment plant in Chettichavadi non-functional, a huge
task lie before the corporation to dispose the 280 metric tonne garbage
everyday.
