Sathyanarayana is new Mayor

Basavanagudi councillor B.S. Sathyanarayana and
Byatarayanapura councillor Indira were unanimously elected the city’s
47th Mayor and 48th Deputy Mayor respectively on Wednesday. Mr.
Sathyanarayana was the only councillor who filed his nomination papers
for the Mayor’s post. category. The Deputy Mayor’s post was reserved for
the Scheduled Tribes (woman) category and as the only councillor in the
BBMP council belonging to that category, Ms. Indira’s election to the
post was also not contested.
