Unfazed by mounting criticism for delays in key Commonwealth Games projects, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over preparations, saying the event will be a great success. Dikshit on Wednesday inspected various sites where work is being carried out by the MCD and the NDMC. She was accompanied by Municipal Commissioner KS Mehra and Delhi Mayor Prithvi Raj Sahwney and senior officials of civic bodies, including MCD Engineer-in-Chief Ravi Dass.
Appreciating the work by the civic bodies, the CM said, “I am confident that all works will be completed in time and the Games will be a great success. I am satisfied with the progress of work,” she said. Dikshit also took stock of progress in removal of debris from construction sites.
The Mayor said we started at 8.30 am from CM’s residence and visited areas where the MCD is upgrading roads or street-scaping. “We went to Delhi Gate, Jawaherlal Nehru Marg, Old Delhi Railway area, Karol and other palaces. We also made a demonstration of “Jet-Patcher” machine which can repair the road within 15 minutes. The CM was satisfied and appreciated the efforts of the Corporation,” said Sahwney.
