Select few can use BBMP logo on vehicles
BANGALORE: In a swift move, mayor S K Nataraj has issued a circular that will stop corporators from using the BBMP logo on their cars.
“The order has been issued as per the KMC Act. The Act doesn’t allow every corporator to use the logo. If corporators don’t desist from using the logo on their cars, it would amount to violation of KarnatakaMunicipal Council Act,” sources said.
The circular issued on August 13 says only the mayor, deputy mayor, ruling and opposition party leaders and standing committee chairmen are empowered to use the logo on their official cars.
Chamarajpet corproator B V Ganesh has welcomed this move and said that the privilege must be reserved for a few in the council.
“I welcome this move. Using BBMP logos by corporators on their cars would lead to sheer misuse of powers. The family members of corporators would also make misuse of the logo. There are clear instructions in the KMC act itself,” said M Nagaraj, opposition party leader (Congress) in BBMP council.
However, the corporators could use as the BBMP member on their cars without the BBMP logo.
