Staff Reporter
Bangalore: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner
Siddaiah on Thursday inspected the skywalk near High Grounds, opposite
Sophia High School.
He discussed its structural stability with B.K. Raghu Prasad from the
Indian Institute of Science and H. Rajasimha, BBMP’s Technical Adviser.
He asked officials to ensure a protective, six-foot-high grill all
along the railing and footbridge as schoolchildren are likely to use the
skywalk.
The officials were also asked to cover all the gaps along the
staircase and pathway, provide an additional step towards the Golf Club
entrance and roofing over stairs.
The agency executing the work should provide a minimum of three lifts for the skywalk, he said.
The foundation has been designed and supervised by B.R. Srinivas
Murthy from the Indian Institute of Science, while the structural design
and supervision is by Prof. Raghu Prasad.
