Siddaramaiah launches work on 9.33-km stretch of ORR
The 9.33-km stretch of the Outer Ring Road (ORR),
connecting Bannur Road to Nanjangud Road, may finally be ready by next
year. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched the work at Bannur Road
junction here on Wednesday.
Though the total length
of the ORR is 41.5 km, a stretch of 32.2 km was developed and the
remaining stretch was left incomplete. MUDA had initially planned to
take up the work on the 9.33-km stretch after upgrading the remaining
stretch into six lanes.
Mysore Urban Development
Authority (MUDA), which developed the ORR to ease traffic congestion
inside the city and provide better connectivity to residential
localities on the outskirts, is taking up the work at a cost of Rs.
54.09 crore. The majority of the funding has come from the Jawaharlal
Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
