South Corpn nod for layout plan of 187 colonies
NEW DELHI, 15 MAY: South Corporation standing committee today passed the
proposal for preparing the layout plan of 187 unauthorised regularised
colonies which fall under its jurisdiction.
Delhi government in
September 2012 had announced regularisation of 895 unauthorised
colonies. Finalisation of layout plans was key for setting up various
infrastructures like schools, hospitals, roads and drainage system in
the settlements.
Keeping in the view the South Corporation has
decided to speed up the process of preparing layout plans for the
unauthorised regularised colonies under its jurisdiction. After some
councillors led by leader of the House Subhash Arya put forth a
proposal, it was decided that preparation of layout plans of around 50
colonies will be started at the earliest. The standing committee also
passed a resolution that no other agency but South Corporation can
invest in recently unauthorised regularised (UR) colonies.
Even the
fund of MLA and MP can be used through corporation. ‘These colonies are
now UR colonies and as per the rule of corporation, passed by
Parliament, only corporation and invest for development activities in
these colonies. The money intended to be invested by MLAs and MPs will
also go through concerned corporation,” said Mr Arya. According to Mr
Arya, “Twenty five per cent colonies from each zone will be chosen in
the first phase for making the layout plan.”
